The Indian Valley PTO works with the Walnut Creek Education Foundation (WCEF) K-12 and the Indian Valley School leadership to support our students, staff and families. Working together, the PTO and WCEF bridge the gap between federal and state funding and the actual cost of high-quality, well-rounded education. Walnut Creek receives less than the state average in per student spending from the state. So, donations to WCEF and the PTO make up the difference to ensure our students receive the education they need to be prepared for the future.
WCEF provides funding for critical curricular programs such as year-long weekly art, music, and science labs for every grade. WCEF also funds technology and district-wide positions such a math coach who supports staff at Indian Valley and across the district.
The PTO provides funding to support curricular programs at Indian Valley, including:
- Classroom teacher supplies
- Ensuring all students have school supplies
- Learning materials and equipment for science labs, art and music classes
- Support for field trips
- Scholarships for 4th and 5th grade overnight camps
In addition, PTO funding supports building community at our school, including:
- Efforts to help our community enhance our diversity, equity and inclusion approaches
- Seasonal parties in each classroom coordinated by parent volunteers
- Family involvement events, such as the Welcome Back picnic and Outdoor Movie Nights
- Staff appreciation events and activities
- School safety and community service efforts
- And more!
